Libby is the point person on emerging issues and product development for both the treaty marketing and underwriting departments for General Re. She is also the current the Business Development Specialist for Internet Risk for Gen Re’s specialty treaty business and she is located in the home office in Stamford, CT. Libby regularly consults with clients on emerging liability issues, product development and internet liability issues.

In 1985, she received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in political science from Towson State University. While working as an underwriter for the Maryland Casualty (a/k/a Zurich Insurance Group), Libby graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1992. Upon graduation, she joined the Baltimore law firm of Semmes, Bowen and Semmes’ as an associate in their commercial litigation department. Libby rejoined the Zurich after a 5-year term with Semmes to focus on product development and best underwriting practices. Libby joined General Re in 1999 for the purpose of creating new products and tracking emerging issues for underwriting and marketing.

In addition to her responsibilities at General Re, Libby is currently serving a two-year term as  Chair of the Emerging Issues Committee and Vice Chair of the eCommerce Committee of Torts and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. She is a regular contributor to the TIPS TortSource publication and has published an article entitled “Home Alone – You, Your Family and the Internet” in the International Bar Association Journal of the Section on Business Law - International Business Lawyer. Finally, Libby participated in the President’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Board Insurance and Reinsurance Working Group on Cybersecurity issues.
